Due to the generic layout my floor plan still has I have decided to redo the floor plan focusing on making a space more unique to Driss. The focus is now on the friendship between Philippe and Driss and their relationship as that is the focal point of the film. In the film, through Philippe, Driss finds a love for modern art and I think it is highly probable that Philippe could have given a piece to Driss for him to display in his own house, therefore I think I should factor in a space for this painting and see if there is a way to get the house to revolve around this as it is something they would look at together. Another point of interest is the different lifestyles Driss and Philippe lead before they met, Philippe is very well off with a grand mansion and Driss is just out of prison and staying in a small flat with many other family members. Hence I think that Driss getting his own space he would want to impress Philippe with an interesting original space, with a nod to the modern art styles that he has been introduced to.
Due to Philippe being in a wheelchair it is important that he can manoeuvre his way around the living space (due to his disability he cannot do anything for himself as he is disabled spine downward therefore he would not be able to go to the toilet alone or cook so these spaces song need to be accessible), so I have brought in the idea of a ramp making its way around the living space, circling a central seating area.

I think before that I was leaving too much space for the kitchen and, after watching the film again, in retrospect I don't think that Driss would be particularly interested in cooking, hence I have reduced the kitchen space. There is now just enough room for a cooker, fridge/freezer and a sink with cupboards above. Also maybe keep the bedroom and the utilities in the house separate and private from him. The services still remain close, and the bedroom is small with just enough room for a double bed. Storage room is underneath the circular ramps and possibly cupboards can be fitted into the corner created by the bedroom wall and the West wall.
On the first drawing I am not sure the steps would be necessary or essential.
With the second, I have left too much space between the circular seating area and the parting walls, as unfortunately I don't have enough space to accommodate this gap.

I have modelled both at a 1:50 scale to decide which I think would work better as I can still reshuffle furniture and other components.
Idea 1 analysis:
+ flat floor level into bedroom, no step
+ space for a sofa at the top of the ramp
+ painting space at top of the ramp with North light
+ round seating space
+ storage underneath ramp
+ ramp suitable for wheelchair
+ views at top of ramp to park and millennium point
- step quite abrupt
- no circular path around house

Idea 2 analysis:
+ circular motion throughout whole house
+ storage underneath ramp
+ views at bottom of the ramp over park and millennium point
+ ramp suitable for wheelchair
- badly placed step going into bedroom
- kitchen on slope
- painting space lower rather than higher up
